Winter Sunrises in Ibiza

Winter Sunrises in Ibiza

Though sunsets in Ibiza are iconic, the sunrises, especially in the winter months, can be breathtaking.

Read about where to watch the best winter sunsets here.

As the first light of 'Alba' (Spanish for dawn) unfurls across the sky, painting the world in a palette of soft pastel colours, I am reminded that each sunrise heralds the fresh start of a new day, an invitation to embrace new possibilities and adventures awaiting on the horizon.

That’s where the name Alba+Rock came from, and so I wanted to share with you some of my favourite sunrise spots that can visit if you are on the island in the quieter months.

Cala de Sant Vicent

Take a drive up to the north and watch the sunrise on another gorgeous Ibiza day from Cala de Sant Vicent. Try walking from the main beach to Sa Punta Grosssa before enjoying breakfast at The Boat House.

Cala d’en Serra

From the end of February onwards, you can enjoy unbelievable sunrise views from Cala d’en Serra. Here’s where you will find the abandoned hotel, adorned with some of the most amazing graffiti and art installations.

There’s also a beautiful hike that I really enjoy which starts close to Portinatx and goes past the towering lighthouse before following the coast around to Cala d’en Serra.

Plus, if you’re very lucky and catch a clear day, you may be able to see Mallorca off into the distance.

Santa Eulalia

The town of Santa Eulalia is one of the only areas that stays alive during the winter, with most of the cafes, restaurants and bars staying open. There’s such a community feel to this town, and you’ll often see lots of locals and residents out in the morning enjoying a coffee as the sun rises across its beautiful beaches.

The coastal walk from Santa Eulalia north towards Es Canar is really beautiful. You’ll pass the beaches of Niu Blau and Cala Pada before reaching Cala Martina (where you might see a few wind-surfers if the weather is right!).

Do you have any other sunrise suggestions for me? Write them in the comments and I’ll add them to my list!
