Though Ibiza has over 300 days of sunshine a year, there does come a point where the rain does fall.
It’s quite funny actually; whenever it starts raining in Ibiza, you’ll come across 2 types of people:
- The local or resident who says “well, the island needs it!” or “we’ve been waiting for this!”, or
- The tourist or holiday-maker who has been trying to get away from the rain at home and is completely gutted that it’s raining in Ibiza!
No matter which side of the coin you are, there is still plenty to see and do when the heavens open.
Visit The Museum of Contemporary Art
Dalt Vila
The Museum of Contemporary Art is completely free to enter and it’s really beautiful. You can see the foundations of Dalt Vila in the basement because the floor is made from perspex - it’s really cool to look at.
Check Out the Necropolis Puig de Molins
Dalt Vila
This is the world’s largest preserved necropolis and was established by the Phoenicians in 600 BC. You can visit the crypts and see some of the treasures found in them including jewellery and painted ostrich eggs. Find out more.
Catch a film at the cinema
San Antonio & Santa Eulalia
There are 2 cinemas in Ibiza which both show movies in English. Cine Regio in San Antonio and Teatro España in Santa Eulalia. They’re cute and a little old-school, absolutely perfect for a rainy day in Ibiza.
Treat yourself to a spa day
Various locations
There are so many beautiful spas in Ibiza, it’s hard to choose just one to recommend. From Atzaro to Zentropia, I absolutely love indulging in treatments and relaxation when the weather is not-so-perfect.
Shop ‘til you drop!
Ibiza Town
This isn’t unique to Ibiza. Shopping is one of my favourite things to do when it rains, wherever I am in the world! But, with that said, I absolutely adore the boutiques and shops in Ibiza, so will always make time for some retail therapy.
Experience the local cuisine
Island-wide
Though Ibiza is famed for beachside eateries that spill out onto the sand, there are also so many beautiful, intimate indoor restaurants to discover on the island. No matter the cuisine that you fancy on the day, you’ll be able to find something perfect. Read the rest of my blog to find out about some of my favourites.
So, when the weather is not so favourable on the White Isle, try one of my recommendations above. You might be surprised at how the day turns around!
