Georgie's island favourites

Hey everyone,

I’ve been wanting to put together some of my island favourites for a while. Finally, I’ve jotted some down in a list.

My favourite beach is…

Most definitely Cala Llenya. The shallow sea and fine sandy beach are in a quiet, lazy cove in the north-east of Ibiza. The beach is surrounded by sandy cliffs and pine trees and it’s super popular with families. You can get all the way down there by car through San Carlos and there’s lots of shady parking too.

My favourite food is…

Salt-crusted sea bass. Before being baked, the fish is coated in a thick coarse layer of salt, which locks in the moisture, letting the fish cooks in its own juices. It ends up fluffy, light and mouth-wateringly good. Usually served with potatoes and grilled vegetables, it’s absolutely perfect for lunch with a view of the sea.

The best fish I’ve had on the island is at Sa Caleta restaurant. It’s open all year round and has an amazing view of Sa Caleta cove. The most beautiful fresh seafood, salads and tapas.

My favourite English Sunday Lunch is…

I can’t choose just one, so here are my top 2.

Can Mimosa in Santa Gertrudis. The restaurant is in a beautiful old finca with a romantic courtyard. Throughout the week they served delicious tapas, but on a Sunday, their speciality is a traditional Sunday roast with all the trimmings. They always have a live singer too and there’s always a fun crowd. There is a cute little playground for the kids so you can enjoy a long lunch without worrying about the little ones.

I can’t talk about Sunday lunch without mentioning Pikes. Channelling the original spirit of Ibiza, this is the home of the music video for ‘Club Tropicana!’. Pikes is a boutique hotel with a stunning restaurant and intimate club. It has character, energy and is absolutely brimming with personality! Sunday lunch is a must (and make sure you order a bloody mary while you’re there).

The best “menu del dia” is at…

Es Pins. They offer no-frills, traditional Ibizan and homemade cuisine. Vegetable rices, fried pork, sobrasada, sausage, lamb chops - the works! In Es Pins you will find all the dishes from a traditional Ibicenco recipe book. Even their bread is homemade.

The menu of the day is only 13 Euros, which includes a starter, main, dessert and an alcoholic drink! Open all year around. You’ve got to try it.

And if you do try any of my favourites, make sure to tag @albaandrock on your socials.
